Keys to Living a Healthy Life

Living a healthy lifestyle is a goal many people have for 2024, but what is a healthy lifestyle? Although each individual can have a different view and variations on what their healthy lifestyle includes, there are key habits to look for. Keep reading to discover the key habits of a healthy lifestyle!

Consistent movement – Moving consistently daily and making it a priority is one of the signs you’re living a healthy lifestyle. This doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym daily, but rather, when possible, you take the stairs, park farther away, or even get up from your desk and stand for a few minutes every hour. Try and work up to getting 10,000 steps every day!

5+ servings of fruits and vegetables – Consuming a minimum of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily can aid in gut health, keep you full between meals, and give you a large variety of nutrients. Once you’ve gotten into the habit of eating your fruits and vegetables, you may notice your body craving them.

Staying hydrated – Drinking water throughout the day is extremely beneficial and one of the easiest steps to a healthy lifestyle. Ideally, you want to have a minimum of 1L of water daily, you may notice increasing your water can lead to clearer and more hydrated skin, less bloating, and higher energy levels.

Consistent sleep schedule – Sleeping a consistent 7-9 hours every night is a great indicator that you’re living a well-balanced healthy lifestyle and your body is functioning well. Sleep allows the body to fight viruses and infections, repair damaged tissue including muscles, and can aid in weight management. 

Stress management and relaxation – Creating a relaxing routine to de-stress from your day can help lower blood pressure, lower cortisol levels, lower heart rate, improve your quality of sleep, improve your mood, and even help with weight management! 

High Energy – Having energy throughout the day often indicates you’re living a healthy lifestyle and your body is functioning at a high level.

These habits and indicators are suggestions for a healthy lifestyle and not the end all be all, as stated above, everyone will have slight variations to their healthy lifestyle habits.
